Seattle Part 2

Since the economy crashed in the United States, we had an opportunity that usually would not have been available as quickly. We got season tickets to the Seattle Seahawks. So for the past three years we have had the same seats and even though most people would think that since they are fairly high up that they wouldn’t be great seats, on the contrary they are the best. Not only do we have an amazing view of the field but we also have an amazing view of the ocean.

Since I am still in school and the regular season does not start until September, we go to the pre-season home opener. The stands are already packed and the football spirit is alive. The first year we went I thought I wouldn’t have any fun at all. I am not a huge football fan and have been to a CFL game before and didn’t really care for it. Boy was I wrong, NFL is in a world of its own. NFL is like our NHL the fans are so passionate and it is so loud in the stadium. Seattle does have the loudest stadium in the NFL so it may be a bit of a biased opinion.

The atmosphere in downtown Seattle before and after a game can only be compared to the red mile in 2004 at its peak when the Flames almost won the Stanley Cup. There are so many bars on the walk to the stadium, so many happy football fans excited to bring the new season in with a win. It is absolutely amazing how many bars there are in such a small area that are packed with people, fans on there way to the game and fans staying at the bar watching the game.

After the game we usually end up walking to a bar near our hotel. I believe the name of the bar is Coney Island but we just refer to it as the clown bar. It is a bit of a dive bar but so much fun. It has a backroom loaded with pinball machines and the front bar area has a few as well. They serve tons of different kinds of hotdogs and nachos, and of course drinks with lots of booze and a little bit of mix, and it is dirt cheap. The décor is clowns and carnival type stuff. The atmosphere is great andwe always have fun at the clown bar whether we win or lose.
